Tunisia, the 8th largest producer of pistachios in the world, primarily concentrates its production in the El Guettar region, near Gafsa. With approximately 1.5 million pistachio trees, the Gafsa governorate is the national leader, followed by Kasserine, particularly in Majel Bel Abess.
The pistachio sector in Tunisia presents strong growth potential. With the improvement of cultivation techniques, the expansion of cultivated areas, and support for farmers, the country could strengthen its position in the international market.
Furthermore, pistachio trees play an important role in sustainable agriculture and the preservation of local ecosystems. The cultivation of pistachios also contributes to crop diversification and enhances farmers' incomes.
